A RETURN TO NEPAL
Australian Nepal trekking specialist
World Expeditions has commenced
operations in Manaslu and Langtang
regions of Nepal, from March 2016.
The return comes since the
devastation of the 2015 earthquakes,
after a thorough review of trail
conditions, bridges, infrastructure and
the general state of community villages
in the region by the company’s local
staff, who report they are satisfied with
operational safety in the region.
World Expeditions CEO, Sue Badyari,
said the company’s first priority is
“We’re delighted that the due diligence
safety assessments are completed in
these relatively remote trekking regions
which were impacted by the earthquakes
in April and May and that the results
allow us to resume in the spring trekking
season from March,” Ms Badyari said.
World Expeditions expects strong
interest in both regions, including the 20-
day Manaslu Circuit & Base Camp Trek,
departing 28 March and 26 September,
the 17-day Langtang & Gosainkund Lakes
Trek, departing on 2 April 2016 and the
Great Himalaya Trail treks that traverse
this region – the GHT Langtang via Tilman
Pass and the GHT Manaslu & Annapurna.
Meanwhile, the company’s charity,
the World Expeditions Foundation has
raised more than $250,000 with its
Nepal Earthquake Appeal and funds
have been allocated to the relief effort in
some of the worst hit areas.
World Expeditions is also operating
a series of Nepal Rebuild trips, which
combine volunteering on the rebuilding
effort with treks to various regions. New
trips have been announced for March 2016.
