TAKING GUESTS TO A LAND
APT’s new Burma River Cruising Program will take guests on an unforgettable
journey of discovery. Guests will travel aboard the AmaPura, a new river ship which,
with just 28 suites, is quite unique to the rest of APT’s fleet and offers guests the
chance to enjoy boutique river cruising at its finest.
The program/brochure features three itineraries ranging from 14 to 20 days, offering
a total of 18 departures. Two of the departure dates (20 February 2015 and 14 April
2015) feature exclusive companion fly free deals, with taxes included, when guests
book their holiday and flights through APT.
At the heart of each departure is an Irrawaddy boutique river cruise aboard the
custom-built AmaPura, which on the 14-day Golden Treasures of Burma itinerary
takes guests between Pyay (Prome) and Mandalay; and on the 16- and 20-day
Hidden Wonders of Burma guests sail from Mandalay to Yangon, with an extension to
Inle Lake on the longer itinerary.
One of the world’s most secretive, mysterious and fascinating places, Burma has a
unique centuries-old culture and spectacular architectural wonders, including sacred
structures gilded with gold leaf and encrusted with precious gems. APT’s river cruises
are carefully crafted to hit all the country’s highlights, with Signature Experiences.

KANGAROO ISLAND FOOD SAFARI
Culinary master Mark Best (above right) will team up with treasured cook Maggie Beer (above left) this year to host one of the
most exciting gourmet adventures on the Australian calendar, the 2014 KI Food Safari at Southern Ocean Lodge.
The hands-on feast with the celebrated producers of Kangaroo Island has been extended this year to seven nights from
August 2-9, allowing a full week among the paddocks, vines, stockyards and oyster beds.
Highlights of the itinerary include the fine cheeses and yoghurts of Island Pure Sheep Dairy, a visit to the green pastures of
Southrock Lamb and a stroll through the shady groves of KI Olive Oil. Guests might pluck marron and abalone from the farm,
savour pure Ligurian honey straight from the hive and shuck oysters fresh from the leases at American River.
And guests will be able to eat, drink and rub shoulders with their hosts at winery lunches, cooking demonstrations,
barbecues and sunset drinks. As a founding host of the KI Food Safari, Maggie Beer will lend her warmth and passion for
local produce to each day’s events. She will be joined by Mark Best for the first time, bringing insight from his kitchens at
Sydney’s acclaimed Marque restaurant, a regular on the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
The KI Food Safari will be held from August 2-9 2014, with places strictly limited. It is priced from $7350 per person twin
share including seven nights at Southern Ocean Lodge, return flights between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island, a daily itinerary
of excursions, produce tastings and demonstrations, all dining and premium beverages.
