Well, I’m not expecting the dollar to stay
as strong as it’s been, so I’m seeing a
lot of early bookings for Europe. We are
seeing a big resurgence in people booking
for Germany, maybe many of our clients
haven’t been for years and there’s the
curiosity factor. And the programs into Asia
and Indochina are ramping up interest –
Also Iceland and Scandinavia have got
the Northern Lights, history, discovery and
outdoor activities for the mature travellers
to explore. Our type of program is popular
with the baby boomers as they can have the
choice of the arts driven itinerary – theatre,
museums, archaeology, opera and active
specialised small group tours too.

Europe is always a hotspot for Aussie
travellers and whilst there was a bit of a dip in
demand post-GFC, it’s now picked up again.
Most of our touring business is for travel in
Europe and now with river cruising booming,
Europe is well placed for further growth.
And can I speculate on what’s changing in
the industry for travellers? Connectivity and
the integration of technology with travel.
With Globus, 75 per cent of our tours have
WiFi on the coaches so staying connected
and keeping social with friends online is
playing its part in travel enjoyment. And
Globus has airfares starting from only $1475
to Europe with Cathay Pacific – Europe’s now
more affordable than ever.
