Home' Get Up and Go : Autumn 2012 Contents GetUp&Go3
For someone who had hardly
cruised up to five years ago, I’m
certainly making up for it. In
January I flew to Adelaide to
embark on a four-day cruise back to
Sydney with a day stop-off in Eden
(on the Sapphire Coast of NSW),
on a ship that has been doing the
rounds since 1948. The Athena was a fun gal and being a
small ship I got to know many of my fellow passengers.
Next trip in March was on a very different vessel – the
mighty Queen Mary 2. What a stunner – I was only on for
two nights and a day and a half – so I didn’t even get to
venture into every nook and cranny. But I did wander the
vast corridors, eat at the signature restaurant and stroll the
decks feeling like, well, royalty.
We’ve cruising stories in Russia and China too in this
issue – you just can’t get away from cruising as a favourite,
easy and convenient holiday option.
We take you to Champagne in France for a taste of the
bubbly, India to understand the psyche of camels, and
check out the links courses of Ireland – if you fancy a round
of golf, head to Ireland.
We’ve tried to give you a taste of many parts of the
world – Europe, South America, Indochina, Asia – and
we’ll introduce you to Australia’s favourite drives in an
autumn climate. New Zealand is the place for cycling and
‘glamping’ is the new buzz words for mature campers, plus
a cricket museum – way to go!
No matter where you are planning to travel this year – let
us be your inspiration. And while you’re reading this issue,
enter the amazing competition – the ultimate Australian
journey is the prize. Worth $27,990 the winner will have
the Great Australian Aircruise – the flight of a lifetime!
